1st night of sleep training

We started sleep training tonight. We decided to use the method in the Baby Whisperer because we just didn't want to CIO. It took 45 minutes but Grace fell asleep on her own in her crib!! She also went down with no pacifier. It was the hardest thing ever but I can see it working, let's hope she sleep well tonight so I don't have to do it again during the night.

I'm so proud of my sweet girl and I really hope this works.

Pacifier weaning success!!

So I took the pacifier away yesterday and Grace hasn't had in just about 24 hrs! You wouldn't even know! My sweet girl still falls asleep like a champ (with me rocking her, but oh well) and you barely know she had it. It doesn't seem like she misses it at all but when she is just falling asleep she sucks on her hand out of habit mostly I think.

Best part is she STTN last night!! 1st time in over 6 weeks. She slept 10-5:30! She went to sleep at 10 because we had some pretty severe storms roll through here and it got pretty intense. Who knows if it was a fluke, or if the pacifier was keeping her up but Kris and I really enjoyed it!! Yay!!

Sleep training ? Part 2...

This morning at 5:15 after trying for more than 2 hrs to get her to go back to sleep Kris and I decided we would try to let her CIO. Nothing else was working and she was just awake and ready to go!! We let her cry (and it was her "I'm pissed" cry rather than her "help me" cry). We let her go for 15 minutes because she would eventually stop then start but never sounded tired, just annoyed. At 15 mins we were both feeling bad so Kris went in and soothed her. As soon as she saw him (in a dark room by the way) she stood up, laughed and talked then balled as soon as he left. He ended up just getting up with her because it was obvious she wasn't going back to sleep nor would she stop crying...

How do you go back in to soothe her if that will make things worse? This kid has seriously cried for an hour once in the car until she finally fell asleep. Is there a such thing as "not a candidate for CIO?" Who knows when she would have stopped and I clearly wouldn't be allowed to go in the room with her at intervals like Ferber says because she thinks it's playtime.

That's it... I'm DONE!!

It's is 4:30am and I am rocking Grace for the 3rd time tonight. Kris rocked her for an hour too. She started waking at 1:30 and hasn't stopped! I need help! I'm tired and exhausted and Grace seems to think sleep isn't important!

I think we need to sleep train...

My daughter is a leech!!

It's cute and annoying all at the same time. Whenever I am on the floor she is all over me. I push her away and she's right back again! My pushing her away is gentle by the way and she thinks it's this awesome game. All I want is her to stop using my boobs as handles!!

Today marks the day

That my daughter had learned to use the jumperoo! She has been bouncing away and her feet finally touch the floor (barely)!! I am so excited and she is loving it...

Kris is playing the drums for her and she is jumping to the beat... Adorable!

And I thought it couldn't get any worse!

As if 6:30 wasn't early enough for this baby who now runs my life... My lovely daughter decided 5:30 was much better time to wake. I am at a loss and in tears as I rock her. She slept great last night, only woke up at once then up at 5:30. What the f@ck??? Why won't she sleep?

She went to bed at 9 (normal time), ate more for dinner so she couldn't be hungry, and refuses to be put down in the crib. I rock her, she's sound asleep, then instantly awake in the crib. What gives? How can you sleep train when the problem isn't going to sleep or even STTN?? She just refuses to sleep past a certain time but is OBVIOUSLY tired!

I got her back down at 6:30... Let's pray she at least gives me an hour more of sleep!!

Gender ultrasound/anatomy scan scheduled!!

And I am so excited! We will find out (hopefully) what this little bean is and if he/she is 100% healthy on June 8th at 7pm. I can't wait! It feels like I am waiting for Christmas!!

Boob and I don't even breastfeed! Never have either. Ouch! She got 5 teeth now and man do they hurt...

She thinks it's hilarious though! 

Fisher Price snail toy

We got this for free at Babies R Us when we bought the Fisher Price Laugh & Learn Activity Table. It goes off ALL the time! I am sitting here listening to it go "yippee" and "wwhooo" over and over again. I have no idea what sets it off, but at night it doesn't play only during the day. I know it works by vibrations so maybe it's the cars? It's kind of annoying! I could shut it off but Grace is napping and I'm being lazy!

What is wrong with you Kris?

He has watched about 2 Disney movie ever! He *thinks* one of them is Snow White. He's never seen Aladdin, Tarzan, Cinderella, Beauty & the Beast, The Jungle Book, pretty much any movie you associate with your childhood. I feel so sad for him. He said even if they had the money for those movies, he wouldn't have had anything to play it on. I think that is so pathetic!

Grace and I are trying to catch him up little by little.

Grace ate chicken...

And did awesome! She loved it! I marinated it in Italian dressing and cooked it on the BBQ, then cut it up into small pieces. She ate it all by herself and didn't gag once. I'm so proud of my girl... She's really picking up on finger foods quick. I don't know if I'm happy or sad about this though, she's growing up so quick!

Toddler radio (on Pandora)

I'm playing right now and I don't know why (Grace is napping). I think I'm pathetic! Anyway it's playing "You Are My Sunshine" and I am on the verge of tears. That stupid song makes me emotional all the time and I can't even sing it to her! And it's not being pregnant that makes it bad either. It's the "You'll never know dear how much I love you" part that gets me every time! Never did before Grace was born.

On a happy note they are now playing Raffy and I'm loving! He was my favorite as a kid!

Strawberry yogurt fail!

I finally got Grace to take a second solids meal yesterday which was a huge success! We did strawberry yogurt and she loved it! But when I was giving her her bath last night I noticed he had a rash around her nipples, her lower waste, in her diaper (was definitely not a diaper rash) and her left shoulder. Poor baby can't have strawberries like mommy (I'm allergic). I will try it one more time next week, but I think we are done with strawberries for a while...

9 Months Old!

Seriously, when did this happen? My baby girl is 9 months old! She won't be going to the dr until 10 months because of our insurance woes but I weighed her yesterday and she was around 16.5lbs. She is crawling like a pro, pulling up on everything and I think she really wants to walk! Only 3 months to her 1st birthday, it's hard to wrap my head around...

12 weeks with Luke

I hate the rain!!

Kris needed his car inspected and took mine to work today. I had to go and drop it off at the shop, then walk home with Grace. Who knew it would be freakin 45 degrees and pouring when we went? So poor Grace and I had to walk for 10 minutes in the rain. By the time I got home my pants were soaked and my jacket was dripping (Grace was nice and dry in her travel system stroller and infant seat).

To top it off Grace has decided to boycott naps today and finally fell asleep on our walk home... Almost 6 hours after she woke up! She is in her room sleeping in her infant seat FINALLY sleeping and I am taking a break!

Geez, I've had enough of today and it's only 2...

Grace just doesn't get hungry

She went 13 hours last night without eating anything and this is very normal. I honestly don't know when she would "ask" for food (I never make her ask though). I make her a bottle out of routine and she eats it because it's in front of her. She ate 6ozs at 10am and it's now almost 4 and she hasn't eaten since!

I forgot to feed her (I know horrible, but we all have our faults right?). She has been happily playing with all her toys and doesn't seem to care she hasn't eaten in 6 hours. She usually eats by 2. This is crazy! Why doesn't she know when she is hungry? It's like she lacks that part of her brain and can't "know" she's hungry... She's been like this since day 1 it's just gotten worse.

Teeth grinding

Is this normal? She is working on those two top middle teeth and already has her lower middle bottom teeth. Lately she's been grinding them together. It is so gross... I hate the sound! I hope she stops this really soon!

Sharing!!

Gracie's figured it out!! She started sharing things like her toys in the car with my mom on Saturday then her pacifier with me this morning (not that I really sucked on it). She takes a turn then hands it to you, then waits for it back! I never thought I would see the day! Such a smart little girl!!
