So Grace is on Similac Sensitive and apparently there is a huge recall for a lot of Similac's formulas. Of course, Grace's is one of the recalled lot #'s so we had to run out and get her ready-feed formula so she can eat. The reason for the recall... Abbott, the manufacturer, said they feared the "remote possibility" that some product may have beetles or their larvae. They claim that... "While the formula containing these beetles poses no immediate health risk, infants who consume formula containing the beetles or their larvae, could experience symptoms of gastrointestinal discomfort and refusal to eat as a result of small insect parts irritating the GI tract," the company said in a press release. "If these symptoms persist for more than a few days, a physician should be consulted."
Could this be the reason for all of Grace's fussiness and horrible time feeding? She's been a bear lately and we just chalked it up to "normal baby activity" but who knows. Needless to say we are upset! No more Similac for us!! We switched her to Gerber Good Start Gentle and so far she's an angel baby!! Hope this lasts!
Grace's Aunt Sheri has affectionately nicknamed her "bug" because of her recent ingestion of beetle parts. Plus, she will now be a lady bug for Halloween! If we couldn't laugh about it, then what should we do! :-)
